An old Daoist saying that has been especially inspiring to me lately: “If the boulders are moved, even a river will change its flow.” With everything going on in the world, and just the “everyday-ness” of life, I find this image so powerful!
Deng Ming Dao writes, “Except for occasional flooding, the mightiest river keeps to its bed. It flows where it finds openings between cliffs and rocks. So it is with the flow of our lives. Life is the flow of energy. This flow of energymoves constantly according to the fixed points that exist at any given moment, and so by choosing the points, we can change the flow.”
By choosing those fixed points, we can change the flow. What an empowering truth. That even when I make the effort to move just the smallest pebbles one at a time- choosing in the moment to drop the story line, to send out an energetic forgiveness, to switch the channel to something pro-social and heartening, to sit rather than to skip, each time I choose to let it in rather than push it right away…I sense the flow change.
We really do have the freedom to choose Wand to change what belongs to us, both externally and internally, the fixed points, those boulders which show where the flow of our life will go.
