Yoga Nidra is a profound state of deep relaxation with inner awareness. It’s a transformational state between wakefulness and deep sleep that enhances our physical, mental, and emotional sense of well-being by releasing tensions accumulated and held in these layers of our self.
Yoga Nidra is a powerful healing tool and stress reduction practice that brings renewal, restoration and rejuvenation to the physical body. Research studies show that this process of conscious relaxation or “dynamic sleep” stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system response in the body, helping to reduce stress hormones and anxiety levels that can lead to many stress-related chronic illnesses and diseases. Yoga Nidra will help you connect with the deep sense of peace that comes from pure and complete relaxation. In fact, it’s been shown that the benefits of 30min of Yoga Nidra are comparable to 3hrs of deep sleep.
Based in the Tantric technique of “nyasa,” this experience brings together the ancient yogic practice of deep relaxation and guided visualization to help you withdraw the senses and move your awareness into the subconscious layer of the mind. The ancient and specific techniques help thought waves slow down, moving them from Beta brain waves to Alpha brain waves, bringing about a state of conscious deep relaxation. In this highly receptive state, we can awaken to unconscious barriers such as unhelpful habits, long-held fears, and negative emotions and we are empowered to release these deep obstacles and energy blockages that can prevent us from realizing our highest potential. In this state, we’re also open to receive insight from the deeper levels of knowing- from the unconscious. Tapping into the brilliance of our intuition sparks our creativity so that we can solve life’s challenges with greater ease, more understating, and clarity.

This class may be offered with a short period of Yin or Restorative poses and Pranayama (directed breathing exercises) to prepare body and mind for the deep work of the Yoga Nidra practice, which is experienced in savasana pose.
All students welcome! No experience necessary. Dress comfortably and in layers. Bring a light handkerchief to cover the eyes is you wish.
