Yin Yoga & Meditation Teacher Training: Foundations

Yin Yoga & Meditation is a powerful, healing combination of yin exercise to balance the body with Mindfulness Meditation practices to train the heart and mind in compassion. In this quiet, powerful practice, students explore the radical art of stillness while experiencing the transformative Applied Mindfulness practices taught by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and other important contemporaries.
In Yin Yoga & Meditation, the poses are “mini-meditation sessions,” supporting the development of your emotional toolbox, a mind that is steadier and less reactive, and the ability to live in greater harmony with ourselves and with the world around us. This meditative approach provides deeper access to both body and mind and enhances physical and emotional attention and intention on and off the mat. This class opens a generous gateway to the present moment, helping to cultivate a peaceful mind and a body at home with itself.
“I loved the balance of practice, lecture, and practicum. The practicum piece is such a valuable component and not often included in shorter trainings. And you have such a beautiful presence and teaching style.”KP, Burlington
Most exercise focuses on superficial muscles (yang), Yin is the “Other Half” of your practice. Yin exercises the “hidden half of the body.” In Yin Yoga, muscles relax to open and work deeply into the connective tissues to improve and maintain flexibility and mobility. Yin targets the areas of lower back, thighs, spine, and hips, strengthening and hydrating them. Restrictions of the body’s range of motion lay 41% in muscles and 47% in connective tissues, so Yin provides a powerful opportunity to restore and maintain the body’s flexibility and fluidity, making it the perfect complement to yang exercise, including Vinyasa Yoga, cycling, and running. Yin Yoga also regulates energy pathways, balancing and promoting a healthy flow of energy throughout the body, nourishing the body’s organs and steadying emotional states.
This training will provide participants with the foundational knowledge you need to bring Yin Yoga & Meditation to your students, covering the fundamentals of Yin, poses and safety, Pranayama and energy movement, and the foundations of Applied Mindfulness practices. And while this training was developed with an emphasis on building a teacher’s toolbox, anyone is welcome to apply, including those wishing to deepen their practice and understanding of Yin Yoga (no 200hr teacher training certificate is required).
